The AGM at the end of August saw a great turnout, with new faces, new members, delicious pastries, cakes and cookies - and the added bonus of an acrobatic show by Kathleen and Neika.
Our officers for the coming year are: President, Kathleen Prescott; Secretary, Fiona George; and welcoming Treasurer, Dave Bracey. Special thanks were given to Chris for his work as Treasurer for the last few years, and to Cara for bringing the new website to life and for producing the beautiful flyer advertising the group to prospective new members. Kath once again excelled in providing her annual report as a fun poem, acknowledging all the hard volunteer contributions.
We heard about the visit to Elizabeth Point by Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania experts and the artefacts, middens and stone quarries which are heritage-listed at the point, We also heard about the work done by Friends of Garden Island Creek in protecting their foreshore from wave erosion and look forward to hearing more at a later date.
It’s fantastic to see so many people continuing their enthusiasm for our special part of the coastline. Thanks to everyone - and look forward to seeing you at our next working bee on Saturday, September 26th at Eggs and Bacon Bay. Stay tuned for details.
