TASMARC
From 2011-2012, our volunteers measured sea level changes around Eggs and Bacon Bay to contribute data to TASMARC (Tasmanian Shoreline Monitoring and ARChiving).
TASMARC was started in 2004 by researchers at the University of Tasmania who were concerned about a lack of historical information about the Tasmanian shoreline and the way it is responding to storm events and sea-level rise. They asked volunteers to measure the profile of beaches from fixed survey marks using basic survey equipment (dumpy level, staff measuring tape), to be archived for future reference.
The mapping and archiving is continuing and, while the Eggs and Bacon Bay data is not yet visible, you can learn more about this project and see Randall's Bay data here.
